Hey everyone! Hope your day is going well today. I thought I’d post a very basic introduction of what I pack for a beach trip. You can use this as a benchmark if you’re planning a Summer vacation since lot of you may be traveling to warmer weather locations, some of which may include a beach, a large resort with a pool or traveling to a lake. I usually pack these items when I go to my beach house in North Carolina and while I’m mostly a neutrals girl, I love adding color to my beach outfits! So I thought I’d share what I would bring and link some potential items if any of you are interested. Most of this is for inspiration purposes of course but I will also link items below each image. If you’re looking for a more comprehensive beach trip packing list and outfits, I’ve posted a Beach vacation capsule already to my Instagram and LTK (@cristalaisha).
Packing checklist
Keep in mind these are some of my suggestions, this is not a “one size fits all” approach. These are just some items that I always like to pack, feel free to add or take away as you see fit. I’m just focused on the fashion part of this, but you’ll obviously want to take essentials like sun screen, toiletries and other items with you.
Swimsuits
You may be a one piece girl, or a bikini girl, or if you’re like me you will take both! I think it’s important to take whatever you feel most comfortable in. I also like to pack some rash guards as well in case I need a bit of extra sun protection.
Cover ups
I love taking coverups to the pool or beach because they are so easy to wear when you’re heading between spots and just to cover up from the sun in general. I recommend sarongs, beach pants, and smocks to name a few.
Hats, bags and sunglasses
I love a good hat for the beach since it’s usually pretty windy and also protects my face from the sun. I recommend the wide brimmed hats below and also a good baseball cap too! Beach bags for carrying snacks, sunscreen and a good book. If you plan on being in the sun for prolonged periods of time, make sure your sunglasses are high quality (not the $5 ones from the dollar store) that offer quality UVA protection for your eyes. I personally love my Ray-bans that are polarized whenever I go to the beach.
Fun jewelry
Jewelry is more of a personal preference and totally optional. I get why you may not want to wear bracelets or necklaces to the beach. I personally love it and aim to take jewelry that won’t get tarnished or scratched in the sand. Knowing this, I really don’t invest in something really expensive for the beach. I keep it casual and colorful! I love shell bracelets and anklets that can also be worn in the water, no issues.
Dressier outfits
Depending on what you’re planning to do during your trip, you may want to take one or two dressier items to wear. I love maxi dresses, shorter sun dresses and two pieced sets for this. I’ll link some of my favorites below!
